part 2

This woman is doing my head in.

“I can’t get connected, it says connected. Then I get no dial tone and it does nothing”

This doesnt help me!
There are 3 different types of error message here!

So it gets connected?

“Yes…but I get no dial tone”

So when you click on connect, it says connected?
“Yes. But then it does nothing, says no dialtone”

aaaagh stop saying no dial tone!
Please, say no dial tone again, I DARE YOU.

So if it says connected on the screen, and you double click internet explorer, what happens then?

“Nothing, no dial tone”

Are you getting connected to the internet or not, madame?

“Yes. It says “authorising username and password”, “connected”, then no dial tone”

But it cannot do that, it simply cannot do that

GAH

another day in paradise

Another day at work, gah.
Customers are being right wankers today, TescoNet have released a new version of the dialler software, and it’s holier than jesus himself, Great.

Luckily Liam is only sat a desk away from me so at least I have someone to bitch to and receive hundreds of random emails from with pictures that Google Image Search (god bless) has brought up :D

Hmm have just been experimenting with the new wall of mirrors in my parents bedroom, makes a good setting for self portraits :)
Shall try some more later, have to not stand next to a join next time though so it will look flawless

black hole sun

Went to the Tate Modern today, haven’t been there before on my many trips to London.

I have to say, it was quite amazing.
Got told off though as I wasn’t to know that in the main galleries photography was not allowed!

They half a new exhibition in the “Turbine Room” which you may have seen in the news late last year.
Basically it’s a HUGE room with a big sun hanging at the front of it.
There is a gangway halfway through the room which is 1 floor higher than the rest of the floor which adds to the effect.
The optical illusion is, that the sun is not actually whole.
There is only have a sun, but the ceiling is covered in mirrors, which reflects the half to make it look whole, plus when you look up the whole floor is reflected.
Really is amazing, pictures below (you are allowed to take pictures in this one exhibition :P)

Our hotel is right across the road from the American Embassy too which has been totally fortified with cement blocks, metal fences and armed police etc. quite cool to see the huge guns those guys carry :D

God bless modern technology.
Brought my laptop to London with me, got here and could immediately plug in to the LAN connection in the room :) excellent.

Took that picture a second ago of Laura (also brought all the wires for my digital camera). Shall go outside in a second and take some more, post later.

Have to walk down to Oxford Street to do a bit of shopping with Lau now :P

dumb? i think not.

Dear Mr Pot Noodle,

Today, I was about to enjoy one of your delicious snack pots, when I was faced with a dilemma.
Although the packet of Sweet & Sour sauce, as always, had the “tear at slit” writing present, the slit was nowhere to be seen!

Because of this negligence in manufacturing, I was thus forced to use the closest sharp utensil to tear the packet open (as the pot noodle does not taste the same without it, clearly), this unfortunately happened to be a bread knife.

Because of your carelessness, I now have a rather large cut on my thumb which I surely do not think will EVER heal.
I would like to know exactly what you plan to do about this.

Regards,

Nathan.

This is a really surreal blog entry, just shows that computer crime really is being cracked down on in the USA, gladly this doesn’t go on too much over here, have only heard of a few cases.
But still, for Chris Toshok, just a normal guy who happens to chat online with a load of nuts who probably did steal the HalfLife2 code, it’s not a good thing to wake up to.

“So at 6:30am on January 14th, I woke up to the doorbell buzzing. Not a short lived buzz. Someone had their thumb pressing the button and holding it there. “Fucking drunkard” I thought, and rolled over, intent on ignoring it. It then started a rythmic *buzz* *buzz* *buzz* *buzz*, over and over again. After about 5 minutes battling to get back to sleep, I gave up and got up. Put my pants on, grabbed my sweatshirt, and stumbled off toward the door.

Immediately there’s a flashlight in my eyes. “Are you Chris Toshok?” “Uh, yes” “Mr. Toshok, we’re with the FBI. We have a warrant to search the premises.” I looked down out of the glare of the flashlight and saw the FBI badge of the long haired blonde woman standing in front of me. I also saw two people behind her, bodies turned sideways so as to present less of a target. Guns drawn? It was too hard to tell really with the glare of the flashlight, but I’m assuming yes.” [clipped]

Scary Movie 3 is finally out tomorrow, and I’ve just booked tickets to go and see it at the Warner Village in the West End of London tomorrow night :) Woo! It looks hilarious, although the delay in bringing it out was to chop out all the Michael Jackson parts, which looked quite funny :(

let me enlighten you

God my holidays planned for this year already, and booked off work.

First of all, London this weekend from Friday morning until Sunday night, staying at a nice hotel in Mayfair (The Millennium Copthorne) with Laura and her family. Should have some nice photos back from that.

But in March,
New York here I come!
7 days in the big apple with my parents.
Surely my best photography ever will come from this trip, now I just need advice on where to go, what to see.
I know the basics, Central Park, Empire State, Staten Island, Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero, etc. but, does anyone know any more obscure places of interest?
Answers in the comments please :D
I’m so excited :D
