Whilst cash-strapped car maker MG Rover keep the futures of it’s 6,000 staff on a knife-edge and accept a small £6.4m loan from the British government to sort themselves out, supermarket giants Tesco announce record annual profits of £2billion, more than any other retailer in British financial history.
Perhaps Tesco should buy MG Rover and then we could have motorised trollies to zoom around the aisles in.
Though they would probably still have at least one wonky wheel.

Here’s a link to an article in today’s G2 section of The Guardian that would interest Dan.
It describes how Pattaya on the South coast of Thailand, some 90 miles from Bangkok has become the new ‘Costa Del Crime’, the name given to the Costa Del Sol in Spain which from the late 1970’s until the mid 1980’s, after the collapse of the extradition agreement between Spain and the UK, became ‘the place to be’ for British criminals on the run from the law.
Apparently in order to disguise prostitution as legitimate business, you have to ask the barman/maid to give you a “Bar Fine” which is usually around 750 Baht (£10) and then is your cue to exit, Thai woman on tow.
Just a few tips for you there Daniel
(Who is heading out for Thailand at the end of this week..)

It’s a big week in the land of Morrissey.
The DVD of his Manchester performance last year, Who put the M in Manchester, his first hometown performance in many years has been released this week. An extravagent show which went on for 19 whole classic songs looked like an absolute corker which I did try to profusely to get to, but failed miserably such was the demand from the Mancunians.
Also, the audio cd, Live From Earls Court has been released this week too! I told you it was an exciting week..
I was impressed the way they did this. Usually when live gigs are released, they relase the same concert on both DVD & CD, therefor not giving very much variety.
But, Morrissey has been clever, thought of this in advance and really has come out on top, releasing the biggest show of the year on DVD and a different show on CD so that there is an incentive to buy both and not one or the other.
Also, as if that was not enough. I received my copy of the ultimate fan movie today, direct from the USA.
“My life with Morrissey”
‘The outrageous tale of a Morrissey fan gone wrong’
Synopsis
Jackie, a hard working assistant at a TV studio, pours herself into her work with an odd enthusiasm that her co-workers embrace with mixed feelings.
An obsessed Morrissey fan, hwe off hours are spent talking to posters and photos that plaster her apartment. Her nights are spent scouring places Morrissey has been spotted around L.A…
One fateful night things take a turn for the worse when by chance her dream comes true. Meeting Morrissey in a deserted parking lot, Jackie’s world is suddenly turned upside down.”
It’s an independent film which never received a cinema release but did get shown at a few film festivals, which was where it one the Audience Award at the Black Point Film Festival.
I can’t wait to see it, sounds absolutely amazing.

And a very happy birthday it is too. Not only has it succeeded in becoming my main, and now only mail provider (all my other email address now forward all mail to Gmail), and a good job it is doing too, but to celebrate the 1st birthday, Google are increasing the capacity of all accounts.
The capacity is now, apparently, infinity+1. According to their graphs and alithograms anywho.
There is a counter on the main page which is counting up, in bytes, at approx .25 bytes a second, and as that increases, so does the storage space allocated to users.
Currently at 2052mb (just over 2gb), with the speed it is going, we should hit 3gb in about a month, if they do continue with the project, unlimited storage could possibly be possible! (Although there really is no such thing as unlimited storage…)
Woohoo! Go Gmail!
