Paxman vs Galloway

Wow, this was a very harsh little squabble.
It went on at 0615am on live television, just after George Galloway had been been confirmed as elected in his new constituency of Bethnal Green & Bow with his own party, Respect.

Paxman is known for his intangible interviewing techniques, but I think this was just childish and totally against the BBC’s policies of impartiality.
Paxman was blatantly just heckling him and wasting the mans time trying to make him look like a fool, which, to be honest, he didn’t.
Paxman just made himself look idiotic.

On a lighter note..
Catherine Taylor-Dawson of the Vote for yourself Dream ticket party scored the lowest possible vote ever, in the constituency of Cardiff North (she also stood in Cardiff West, South & Central), with just 1 vote. See here

IN YOUR FACE! IN YOUR FACE!

Jenny Willot of the Liberal Democrats takes Cardiff Central from Labour!

IN YOUR FACE JON OWEN JONES!

For some reason I was more attached to this constituency than my own..
And yes, for your information, I did do some of those “hip thrusting” movements towards the screen of my TV when they were showing Jon Owen Jones’ defeated face. :D
Man, elections and whiskey do mix no matter what anyone says..

The results are coming in..

Yes, they’re coming in thick and fast.
At 1:35am. 3 1/2 hours after the polls closed, labour have a huge lead.
Of 107 declard, 90 of them have been for Labour.

I’m just waiting up until Cardiff Central is declared, as that is key marginal that is close to me (I actually only live a few streets from being part of it..) and could easily fall to the LibDems from Labour.

Here is my ballot paper..I thought I should just prove my allegiance.

My ballot

Election fever

I’ve been out exercising my democratic right, have you?

I have the pictures to prove it, they’ll be posted later.
But, in summary, at 1042am (GMT) my X was struck onto my ballot paper next to Liberal Democrat candidate Gavin Cox, and I’m satisfied with my decision. I would very happily have the LibDems running this country, but, unfortunately, it’s not going to happen this time around, but, watch this space. They are definitely going to be in contention soon.

In other news…

A bomb has gone off outside the UK consulate in Manhattan, New York.
Not too far from where we stayed both times last year and this.
Bombs are a big thing in America, especially in New York, how this could possibly happened in surely going to be subject of a lenghty investigation, especially since New York is now so highly guarded since, well, you know what I mean.
Luckily nobody was hurt, there was only one person in the consulate at the time, but it will certainly leave many with shattered nerves.

t-minus 5..4..3..2..

Yes, it’s that day tomorrow, election day. My first general election.
I haven’t firmly made up my mind yet on who I am going to vote for and will be doing some extensive reading today to come to a conclusion.
What I can say however is that it is a definite toss-up between the Liberal Democrats and the Green Party. Though I’m more inclined to vote for the former as I know more about them and their policies. I wouldn’t even be considering the Greens if it weren’t for that stupid poll.

Here is a great page for comparing the parties that I am considering and each of their standpoints on key issues, I’ve added Labour as a control group. See here
