The National Portrait Gallery in London has confirmed today that they will be hanging a photograph taken of the Smiths in 1986.
I would imagine that most are familiar with the picture, it pictures Morrissey, Marr, Rourke and Joyce outside Salford Lads Club, Manchester.
Only the BBC so far, that I can find, are reporting this story and they do not stipulate when this picture will be going up.
I shall certainly be there when it is though, when they display pictures in the National Portrait Gallery, they are usually very big and to see it that size would be wonderful.
Once again this just goes to show that The Smiths really are a Great British institution.
