The Tasty and a few other bloggers have been raving about a USB powered missile launcher which looked cool as hell.
Reading on in the post, it is only available here in the UK, exclusively to Marks and Spencer, so, naturally I had to rush down there and get one.
I installed it this morning in the office and have been pelting everyone in the IT department all morning since, everyone thinks it’s quite possibly the best thing that has ever come out of USB.
Software is included so it can be controlled, able to move left, right, up, down, as you would expect so that it can be aimed, it is actually quite versatile.
Here are some pictures of it in action;

Video of it in action coming later on :D

Finkangel can only dream of such extravagant personal gifts for himself… :(
:) sounds like fun! ooh i cant wait for the video of it now! :D
Does it also double as a flash memory stick?
Looks great all set up on top of your PC! I’m looking forward to seeing the video.
Just got one for Christmas… Cool toy.. However what it needs is an onboard USB webcam (mine is on order – and has night vision). Then with cunning use of RDP my office chair will never be borrowed again!! :-)
I have just purchased this cool toy but did not get the instructions or software!! gutted!. could someone please put me out of the misery of having to wait for M&S open tomorrow and email me the software so i can shoot my friends this evening!
my address is my name (all one word) at hotmail
cheers and merry xmas. :)
The cd is in the bottom of the packaging
Tried installing the software but it gave an error message. Something about it needing to run off DOS. Anyone know if this is down to dodgy software or that it’s incompatible with Windows XP?
If anyone knows of a patch, or where I could download the software, I’d be very grateful.
Cheers
Dear God Mr Charmingman, please help me. I was given a USB Missile Launcher for Christmas and in my excitement as I beheld the marvellous toy I threw away the box containing the software !
Please, I beg you – as if you were a stripper and I were filled with Alcopops – I beg you to ftp the software somewhere accessible to a moron such as my moronicself.
Please!
I signed up for a yahoo account for the sole purpose of contacting you, after finding your photo with a “USB Missile Launcher” google.
Dear God I’m upset with myself.
I found the application used to control the missile launcher a complete pain and wanted to be able to control it remotely via the web.
I spent the day reverse engineering the code and have produced a development library for VB, C# and C/C++.
If people are interested I could post it to them and would gladly accept donation for the time and effort.
I also received one of these as a Christmas present and by New Years Eve it was on the web.

Angelo, are you interested in exchanging notes..
Chris, Did you get the software? If not email be at the address above.
Brian, my colleague has decided to take a leave of absence (apparently he’s ill) and left his missile launcher just sitting on the desk, minus the software.
Any chance you could email the software over?
Angelo, I am interested in the library for VB. I have mounted a logitech camera on my rocket launcher using a piece of balsa wood. Center of image is only accurate at about 4 feet but works.
What are you looking for in form of a donation.
Regards
Alan

Got one of these for christmas too. It is indeed very cool, only mine is currently in bits on my desk, gonna spend this weekend (and probably alot longer) putting it back together and rigging it up to a Celoxica RC10 FPGA development board. Forget PC drivers, i’m gonna get this baby working purely from hardware! with a bit of luck the end game will be to get it linked up to a camera and motion tracking! Anyone had a go at reverse engineering the hardware? would be interested in anything anyone has found out.
You all need to buy a few and put them on Ebay so that us Yanks can buy one!
niiice! i want one! :)
HAHA! fkk yeah! i can imagine shooting my cats with those
that look like it would break easy
i got one today. beware its cheap crap. I fired it couple of times and it screw my usb port up. now nothing usb work.
Hey, where is the promised action-video?
fixed launcher. if any of you have problems with, open up and check wires. was a pretty shit job done on them so i had to fix.
it working fine now, but i shot the dog and it ate 2 of the missiles. sidenote: i just realize i should get my own blog instead of post comments here.
Please help!
Does anybody have the software that they could send to me? My disk gives an error message too – something about not being suitable for Dos?

Those of you pleading for software: check out http://scott.weston.id.au/software/pymissile/
Scott has created a control app in python that runs on Ubuntu Linux and possibly other linux platforms. And maybe other OSs that support python.
Hi, I also need a copy of the windows software – can someone mail me a copy / point me at a download site.
cw_485@hotmail.com
Cheers – Chris W
I don’t suppose you could send the reversed engineered code to me? I would love to build a cam into one of these and a VB script could get me on my way. If this is ok can you send it to tac_nedoow@yahoo.co.uk Thanks, Pete.
Hi – I would also be interested in the reverse engineered code too.
Or a copy of the Windows software, as BDLCAM doesn’t seem to want to interact with mine!
joe.sergeant@gmail.com
Thanks!
Hi,
Just recieved my launcher again minus the software disc is there any chance someone could email me the windows version of the software?
Cheers
Dave
Has anyone got BDLCAM working with the missile launcher yet? I’ve tried just about every setting on it, with no luck. It’s an awesome toy, but I really want to make it remote-controllable via a web-server so other people in my office can shoot at each other :-)
Send help to : hintofsarcasm@sonicpenguins.com
James.
Just got a missile launcher and the dos error message keeps coming up. Can anyone please send me the software or any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks.
Hi Angelo, could you please send me a copy of the code you’ve made for the missile launcher.
I would be very grateful.

Hi Angelo, can I please have a copy of the windows C# code for the missile launcher.
Many thanks
Tony Pimm (tony@pimbotech.co.uk)
Hi,
Really glad you like the product. I wanted to put a webcam on it but the commercial guys said it was too pricey. If you have any ideas for cool new gadgets please post your email and I’ll be in touch.
I am trying to set up an email address for ordering new rockets and software.
If you want to be a distributor outside the UK please also post your email.
Thanks
Lee
I bought one solely for the purpose of mounting a digital camera on it. I removed all the missile firing mechanism, sawed the top off, put on a plate and using remote desk top, tilt and pan at a remote location to take pictures.
Hi Angelo,
I’d really like the VB source code if possible please?
neil@elite.uk.net
What sort of donations are you looking at? Sounds worth it though!
I would like to know if anyone can get the missile working in JAVA on xp.. or any C# code I can possibility take a look at?
Thank you so much for your time.

Chris

Hi,
I am a C++ windows author, and write such programs as dvdinfopro (www.dvdinfopro.com). I just purchased one of the missile launchers to keep my colleagues under control :)
we are currently working on vista sidebar gadgets, so would be cool to make a vista gadget for the launcher.
Can someone please send me the C++ source code so I can write this, I will make the gadget freely available once complete.
cheers

Hi,
Could anyone send me a copy of c# code for the missile launcher?
Thanks
hi, i would really like to get the code so i can play around with it, i also have an empty website which i would be more than willing to use to host the files as well as any modified versions people wish to supply, my email is zendainc@hotmail.com
i just got this today. clearly most awesome, pointless thing ever!!! ive just been spending the day shooting at my brother and his girlfriend, hiding the launcher and then hiding with my laptop and taking them by complete surprise!!! its awesome!!!
I bought one of these bad boys in the hope of terrorising my office and even managed to find the CD in the packaging. Sadly the IT boys have my computer sewn up tighter than Dolly Parton’s Bra, I can’t install the program on my office PC. Looks like i’ll have to take it home. Gutted.
Any chance I can get a copy of the VB code? For that matter, I’ll take what I can get, but the VB would be the handiest….
Email: _valen@yahoo.com
http://java.roysolberg.com/usb/ now also contains a simple Java Servlet for controlling the launcher. Hmm..why not make a simple MIDlet that calls the servlet and you’ve got a mobile controller?
Hi there !
Angelo or anyone in possesion, will you please mail the VB / C# / C++ or whatever source ?
:-)
nils_heidorn@gmx.de

Many thanks
Gakki
Does the Missile Launcher Software work with Windows Vista?
yeah it works with vista, i tested it today.
Hi,
Does anybody know why this would not tilt up and down, and only rotate with mine – I don’t think that it’s the software however…
Hi,
Does anybody know why this thing will not tilt up and down – it only rotates. The buttons when pressed show animation, and have uninstalled and reinstalled twice now and still no luck. Is this software or hardware?
Just got this for my husband for our anniversary. It all installed fine but the missiles won’t LAUNCH! He’s gutted. Do you have to do anything to them first – break off plastic or anything?
Thanks in advance for any responses.

This thing owns. I have one dilemma… I lost the software CD. *cries* Anyone have an image file they can send me? Contact me at myappropriateemail@gmail.com if you do. I really need to get this thing running again, it kicks ass.
Angelo, I have mounted a logitech camera on my rocket launcher. I plan to write an intelligent surveillance system program which can automatically detect and attact the intruder.
Can you sent me your library please. Thank you very much!!

hi
i just got the usb missile launcher
however i managed to throw the installation cd away
is there any way that i can get it to work on my computer
tom
Thanks so much for these posts. I have been looking for the drivers for three days ya’ll made my day by having the software here.
I’ve released a new version of “Missile Launcher (mfire)” which allows for command line and graphical control under Windows (including Vista).
Ian,
Has anyone got any info on controlling the launcher in visual basic 2008? It dosnt seem to responce even to “send keys” when the app is open. Iv made a motion detector and was planing on linking the two together! I will give out the source once im done, if anyone has any info that will help please email me: kirgy9@gmail.com
Ian, where did you put your software ? And what kind of drivers do you need ? XP does not recognize anything when I plug it in…
Quite possibly the coolest office toy i’ve seen this year, and one that has quickly risen to the top of my Christmas wish list! – awesome.
does anyone know why is it that when i click fire the missiles wont launch
Hi there!
Would be very very happy if someone could send me a c#/c++ lib :)
